Pharma Talent: Views from Maii

Pharma Talent: Views from Maii

Continuing our International Women's Day spotlight series, Talmix speaks to Maii Said, a pharmaceuticals expert and project manager, about balancing freelancing with family, and achieving career success.

Q. Why did you decide to go independent?

I wanted to build real progress in my career, whilst also balancing being a single mother. Going independent brings me the right balance in my work and home life.

Q. Why do you think there is increasing global demand for independent expertise?

The talent pool of independent workers rapidly growing - many successful people have left their work place for many different reasons, and found themselves going independent to improve stresses and drawbacks in their previous work environments. As a result, the demand is naturally matching the supply, as more businesses look for independent expertise to support on key initiatives.

Q. Describe a recent or successful assignment in terms of scope, duration and any particular highlights in the outcomes.

I had recently been assigned to a project across both Egypt and Morocco for a Tier 1 consultancy, to deliver on-site inspections. It was a niche project, but my 15+ years of experience in regulated oral solid dosage manufacturing and oncology was pivotal, alongside my work ethic, in achieving success for the client and in ensuring adherence to quality compliance practices.

Q. What is your favourite thing to do when you are not on the clock?

I enjoy spending time with my children and reading!
